Client #1: Major Health Care Provider
The problem: They were exploring the idea of deploying a wireless LAN for 11,000 doctors, nurses and care providers. Wanted to know if the Return on Investment (ROI) would be worth the initial cost and upkeep.
How we helped: By doing an online search of industry & trade magazines, white papers, newspapers, and consultant groups, we provided a quick overview of similar deployments, with statistics on deployment costs, upkeep, time savings, and increases in productivity. The cost to our client was under US$750, and gave them the information needed to move to the next step and fund the initial phase of the project.
Client #2: Major University Research Library
The Problem: For parts of their library collection, they were interested in understanding the costs and benefits of state-of-the-art digital archiving systems.
How we helped: Using online resources, our researcher (who was an expert in digital publishing) identified multiple cases in which libraries used different systems. Her research also uncovered several case studies that outlined the benefits/pitfalls of certain systems. Our researcher also interviewed project leaders at the various institutions to get insight into relevant issues surrounding the systems. The cost to our client was under US$4000, and they were able to confidently draft a thorough Request for Proposal for vendors.
Client #3: International Business Consulting Firm
The Problem: Sales account executives needed to get quickly up-to-speed on the problems/issues facing prospective clients. They didn't have the time nor expertise to research and to read exhaustive industry studies or lengthy articles on their prospects.
How we helped: Our researchers prepared 1 page synopses on the target companies, with an overview, competitors, and SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis. The Sales execs could quickly understand key issues their prospective clients faced, and they were more effective in closing the business.
